Video and computer projectors

Wireless technology enables images from a computer to be transmitted to the projector without a wire between the two. Hence the use of a VGA cable to connect the computer to the projector is no longer required. Typically, the longest a VGA cable can be run without loss of signal is 10 metres. With wireless technology you have the freedom to place your projector up to 60 metres away (depending on the manufacturer) from your notebook without any connecting wires.

Of the two types of wireless connection - Bluetooth and WiFi. WiFi is superior as it has a greater bandwidth and also enables the transmission of information over greater distances. WiFi can transmit up to ten times faster than Bluetooth and up to 6 times further than Bluetooth.

The majority of laptops sold in the UK can be wireless enabled.

In order to use a WiFi wireless projector, which is the most common type, you will need to install a wireless network card in either the desktop and notebook computer you are sending information from. A few projectors come with a wireless PCMCIA card to fit into the side of a notebook computer, but most require you to purchase network cards separately if you do not have one. These can be purchased from most local computer shops, Dixon’s and PC World in the UK.

Most multimedia projectors below can be used for both computer and video presentations. Projectors marked with VIDEO can only be used with video sources such as DVD players and video recorders.

Independent Products only deliver to the UK mainland. To place an order then please fax your purchase order to 01754 898910, including your invoice/delivery address, goods, delivery charge, total including VAT and method of payment. We are unable to take telephone orders.

If you are an educational establishment, government establishment, large registered charity or blue chip company and wish to pay by 14 or 30 day account please fax your official purchase order.
