Projector ceiling mount kits
Projector mount kits normally comprise a ceiling plate which attaches to the ceiling; a pole which can also be called a column or tube, which normally comes in lengths of 0.5m, 1m, 2m or 3 metres; a PSU (projector support unit) which is the part attaches to the end of the pole to support the projector; and the projector mounting plate which is attached to your projector (most projectors mount upside down) and to the PSU.
Depending on manufacturer, sometimes the PSU has a mounting plate already attached. Many people prefer to simply buy either a 1m, 2m or 3m ceiling mount kit, which comes complete with all the bits you need to mount your projector. Or you can buy all the separate components individually.
Should you wish to have a longer pole than 3m, then extension poles are available, which you normally join together with a pole connector. It is advisable to choose the same manufacturers components to ensure compatibility. Other components are tilting brackets which allows the projector to tilt. However again, some manufacturers have a tilting ceiling plate which allows tilting at ceiling level rather than at projector level. Other components include security cages or boxes to help prevent theft. Its worth checking before buying whether such cages are designed for central lens, left or right hand lens, so that the lens is not covered up by part of the metal cage.
Both bespoke and universal ceiling mount kits and components are available on the market from a wide range of bracket manufacturers ranging from budget to industry strength, engineered brackets or aethestically pleasing brackets. Colours vary from light grey, dark grey, black or silver. Bespoke fit your projector make and model, whilst the advantage of using a universal bracket is that when you change your projector you may not have to change your bracket.
We recommend a qualified trade person using quality fixings for the installation to prevent damage to your ceiling and/or projector and for safety reasons. The pictures are for illustration only and may differ from the actual brackets made.
