Brackets which are specific to manufacturers products, are designed to fit specific makes and models of AV equipment, be it projectors, lcd monitors, plasma screens, etc. The advantage is that you have peace of mind that the mount will fit.
There are a number of bracket manufacturers who make mounts and stands to fit a range of sizes and weights of audio visual equipment including plasma screens, lcd monitors, projectors, loudspeakers, audio and lighting equipment.
