| Classrooms As schools come to change their projectors, the trend is towards short throw models. These allow you to mount them from as little as 42cm away from the whiteboard to project a 60-inch to 80-inch image. Short throw projectors are recommended by BECTA, for health and safety reasons, so that bright projection lights are not shone in the eyes of teachers and pupils. Projectors Powered speakers allow you to bring sound to your visual presentations, as well ensuring that everyone in the class can hear clearly. Soundfield is a buzz word at the moment, which simply means using a sound system of speakers, amplifier and wireless microphone to raise the natural speaking voice of the teacher, so everyone can hear. Speakers are available as suspended ceiling tiles, small ceiling speakers mounted into ordinary ceilings. You can wall mount speakers either in the corners of the classroom, or mount powered speakers down the side of the interactive whiteboard. For the latter, if the room is large, then an additional pair of speakers further down the classroom may also be needed. Wireless headset or lapel (lavalier) microphones are ideal for teachers. For new builds, a whiteboard, projector with audio system, which may be height adjustable, are available from both Smart (finger touch boards) and Promethean (use the boards with a pen). Interactive accessories, such as, personal response systems (voting systems) Qwizdom, wireless tablets, interactive panels, etc., are available, including A6 tablets that allow the teacher to work on lessons whilst away from the whiteboard. Document cameras (visualisers) and educational microscopes or digital microscopes are other educational tools for the modern classroom. We have put together some packages to give you an idea of what is available. Our sales consultants are happy to talk to you about the various options, together with quotations and manufacturers .PDF brochures. Interactive
whiteboards Digital whiteboards bring interactivity into schools and training. You can involve pupils in lessons using either finger touch, pen or both, depending on which manufacturer's board you choose. If you have standard whiteboards and don't want the expense of replacing these, you can use a portable whiteboard system. This adheres to standard dry-wipe whiteboards and captures an area, so that work can be saved to PC. Integral whiteboard with boom mounted short throw projector and audio help with the problem of shadows on the board and prevent the glare of a bright projector lamp shining in the teacher's eyes. If you already have a whiteboard, you can now purchase short throw projectors. BECTA recommend 1,500 ANSI lumens brightness for classrooms and there are orange or silver projectors which comply with BECTA. |

Interactive
products For teachers who like to teach from the front of a class, interactive panels, or confidence monitors, as they are also called. They let you to annotate on the panel, whilst facing the class, and the class can view your changes on the projection screen or whiteboard behind you. If you like to walk round your class and stop at a pupil to annotate to illustrate a point, you can do so with a wireless tablet. Need to do a lesson plan and the whiteboard is in the classroom. You can plan lessons using an A6 graphics pad and then plug into the whiteboard when back in class. Quiz pupils on what they have learned in a fun, interactive way, eliminate marking and record attendance effortlessly with interactive voting systems. Qwizdom Document cameras or visualizers can be used in almost any subject. Documents, pages of books, 3D images, artwork or science lab specimens, can be viewed, with images being saved on PC. Education microscopes allow you to view specimens, but when you want to share or email digital images, you can either buy digital cameras which fit onto traditional microscopes or purchase new digital microscopes. Teaching software allows you to have networked microscopy, or use a digital laboratory software for class interaction. |

Tradtional
education equipment OHP's and slide projectors are still in use in many classrooms. Portable PA systems are used in school halls for dance, with the weather resistant versions being ideal for sports days and poolside. Cassettes are still being used in schools, so cassette players are useful, especially in language classes. MP3 players are becoming more popular now. You can also buy mixer amps with built-in DVD, MP3 and tuner. LED lighting is set to replace traditional lighting. Low voltage LED lighting is safer to use and has long life, up to 100,000 hours, depending on manufacturer and LED product. Mounts, stands and trolleys for use with projectors, LCD monitors (ideal for digital signage in reception areas) and security products offer a wide range of choices. |
